Galata Tower
A tower that watches over all of Istanbul.
See the City From Above
Standing tall above the streets of Karaköy, the Galata Tower has been watching over Istanbul since 1348, when it was built by Genoese traders. At that time, it was the tallest building in the city—and it’s still one of the best places to see the whole city from above.
When you go up, you’ll get a full 360° view of the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn, the mosques of the old city, and the endless rooftops of Istanbul.
What You’ll Experience at the Top of Galata Tower
Observation Deck: The top floor has an open balcony all around the tower. On a clear day, you can see Asia and Europe at the same time!
Interactive Museum: Inside, you’ll find fun, digital exhibits that explain the tower’s history, old city maps, and stories from the time of the Genoese and Ottomans.
