Opened on April 23, 2005, İstanbul Oyuncak Museum, founded by poet and writer Sunay Akın, showcases over 4,000 toys from the 1700s to today in a historic five-story mansion in Göztepe. Each room tells a story, from space exploration to the Industrial Revolution, with highlights like the yellow submarine toy linked to The Beatles’ song. Playing a key role in establishing toy museums across Turkey, it hosted TOYCO-2012, earning Istanbul the title of “capital of toy museums,” and remains a nostalgic and educational journey recognized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
