Süreyya Opera House
Osmanağa, Gen. Asım Gündüz Cd. No:29, 34710 Kadıköy/İstanbul, Türkiye
Süreyya Opera House, located in Kadıköy, is one of Istanbul’s most elegant performing arts venues. Built in 1927 by politician Süreyya İlmen Pasha, it was originally designed as the city's first opera house, inspired by European theaters. However, due to a lack of necessary facilities, it functioned as a cinema for decades before being fully restored and reopened as an opera and ballet theater in 2007. Today, it hosts a variety of opera, ballet, and classical music performances, offering a refined cultural experience on the Asian side of Istanbul. With its art deco architecture, grand foyer, and rich acoustics, Süreyya Opera House is a key destination for lovers of the performing arts.
